CAPABILITIES

In-house Tool Building

To manufacture a component for a critical-to-life application, you must have a high-end tool capability. Our engineers and experts in materials science know how to craft the essential parts of a high-precision tool to ensure high-quality parts manufactured clean and to print dimensions. Regardless of the type of part you want to manufacture, our engineering know-how and attention to detail create the best tool for your job.

We begin by selecting a material (e.g., aluminum, alloy, etc.) to address a component’s complexity and production volume as well as your budget. We then move on to a prototype created with 3D printing to vet our design and reduce the risk of error once full production begins. We then optimize the tool, or mold, and determine the best places for ejection locations and gates.

Tool Transfer

Once you have transferred a tool to us, you want to return to production quickly. To ensure that happens upon transfer, we assess your tool for quality and pinpoint anything that might derail or delay production. Step by step, we will stay in communication with you about anything we find, so you can approve recommended changes or improve upon a tool. Because we know tooling, we also have the know-how to make a smooth, efficient tool transfer happen to put your critical-to-life component into the hands of your customer.

Our three-step transfer program assesses your tool, integrates it, and launches production of your component. Our tool-transfer capabilities include:

  • Design services to address things like optimizing cooling, minimizing warping, and hitting critical dimensions the first time.
  • Rapid prototyping to show you what your product design looks like and adjust efficiently which saves valuable time to launch your program sooner and at less cost.
Product Enhancement

With diverse backgrounds in precision tooling, advanced plastic processing, product development and more, our in-house degreed plastics engineers provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis during the quotation phase of the project.

We will work with you to optimize material selection, wall thickness, gate location, and mold orientation to offer a robust product design to meet your design/assembly specifications.

Healthcare and Bioscience Plastic Injection Molding

The components designed and manufactured for the healthcare industry can affect not only one’s quality of life but life itself. We are mindful of the rigorous conditions and regulations required to produce components for your healthcare applications. We consult with you not only on your designs but also about the material performance for injection molding and producing parts.

Through our injection molding services, we apply the knowledge gained from prototyping into shortening the time for production-readiness, which reduces costs for you. We believe it’s critical to develop prototypes with an eye toward what can be learned to improve the process and product. That’s why we create prototypes with a purpose. We consider prototyping a critical step for early-stage tooling and production-indicative design.

Among our strengths is the ability to balance your timetable and goals to deliver complex projects in weeks versus months. Whether your injection-molding needs require materials for lower-cost commodity plastics or high-grade engineering resins, we provide the recommendations to achieve the goal.

We also provide:

  • Degreed engineers and RJG Master Molder® qualified technicians and managers who can identify polymers with specific properties and temperatures.
  • Experts who can recommend plastics in various grades like medical-grade plastics for biocompatibility.
  • Certified ISO-7 and ISO-8 clean manufacturing environments.
  • Engineers who know what it takes to support the tight tolerances required by the medical industry.
Finished Medical Device Assembly

Along with our tooling, product enhancement, and injection molding services, Polymer Medical assembles your medical devices with the attention to detail and sense of urgency you deserve.

At each step of the process, we put ourselves in your place and ask, “Will this work meet our customer’s expectations?” Each component we work on is part of a continuum of quality; we vet the assembly of your components at each step, and we flag anything that doesn’t measure up to your standard and ours.

To ramp up your projects, our production team will construct assembly cells in either our Certified ISO-7 or ISO-8 clean manufacturing environments.

Additional Services

Sometimes, you may need a partner who not only builds your tools and manufactures your components but also provides you with more. To help you complete your job, we provide the following services:

Welding of injection molded parts through ultrasonic, spin, and/or vibration techniques.Labeling and marking of your molded injection parts.

Functional testing of your components, so you know they meet your superior standards before they leave our facility.

Packaging your product, so it is ready for sterilization prior to market use.

Other services include:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and providing the data (i.e., production DNA) about the parts we make for you,
  • Offering you engineering and product design services through our industry experts.
